Anger Thermometer

Anger rarely jumps from cold to hot in an instant. Instead, it starts with a quiet simmer before growing to a raging boil. Learning to catch anger before it’s too hot makes it easier to manage.

The Anger Thermometer worksheet depicts a 5-point scale where “5” represents the angriest you could ever be and “1” is only slightly irritated. Clients are asked to think about the warning signs they experience at each stage of anger. These may include thoughts, feelings, symptoms, or actions.

By learning to catch anger early, clients can implement coping skills more effectively. Learning anger triggers can be another helpful clue for spotting anger before it's too late.

Pair this tool with the Anger Warning Signs worksheet, which can help clients identify their most common anger symptoms.
