Nomenclature is the manner in which names are assigned. We collect names and titles and then we reveal the story behind that name.
“Hollow Ground” came from the tool most people think of when they hear the word “barbering”; straight razors. The term derives from the style in which a straight razor blade is prepared, different from a kitchen knife it has a concave beveled edge for the sharpest edge you can find. Being a classic barber shop with a modern twist we wanted to find a name that would represent our passion for barbering and all things associated. We wanted to take that concept and put it in our work and give all of our clients the sharpest look they could get.
We live around the shop and wanted to create a neighbourhood barber shop that is able to care for you and your hair no matter who you are. We love it around here and the neighbourhood has been overwhelmingly supportive towards us on this new adventure. We cannot wait to grow with the neighbourhood and Toronto as a whole.
